2008-2009 Raiderettes

The 2008-2009 Oakland Raiderettes were named last week at the Oakland Airport Hilton. The will serve under the leadership of director/choreographer Karen Kovac and assistant choreographer Laura Jollay.

    Only 40 women were chosen out of the hundreds who participated in a two-week audition process that included a formal interview, evening wear modeling and a dance routine.
    This year Globe Publisher Vernon Whitmore joined Sports Editor Felicia Purcell-McDaniel as a panel judge.
    “It was a great experience with some very talented young ladies, showing a lot of class,” said Whitmore. “The ladies worked very hard. I was impressed.”
    Whitmore says he looks forward to the opportunity to serve as a judge again next year.
