Each time the Raiders
and 49ers take the ball into the end zone during
the upcoming season, Bay Area kids will win through
the Washington Mutual Touchdowns for Tots program.
Whenever
the 49ers and Raiders score a touchdown during the regular season, WaMu will
donate $500 to the respective elementary school beneficiary for each of the teams.
Glen Park Elementary School in San Francisco will be the recipient of WaMu’s
donation for 49ers touchdowns, while Emerson Elementary School in Oakland will
receive the money for each Raiders TD.
This season, Vernon Davis, tight end for
the 49ers, and Ronald Curry, wide receiver for the Raiders, will serve as spokesmen
for the program.
“Hundreds of Bay Area kids and their families have benefited
from WaMu’s Touchdowns for Tots since we began the program, and we’re
thrilled to be able to kick it off again in 2007,” said Alan Elias, senior
vice president for WaMu. “The 49ers and Raiders have a strong tradition
of assisting children’s programs, and it is our pleasure to team up in
2007 to further support education.
“We hope the 49ers and Raiders have
very successful seasons, score lots of touchdowns and make us write out two big
checks,” Elias said.
