The Globe announces Health in
the Community series
By Eleanor Boswell-Raine,
Globe Managing Editor
Health
is a major concern throughout out nation — issues
regarding disease management, diagnosis and prevention
and access to medical facilities, medication
and affordable insurance plague communities where
poverty is prevalent.
When you review health disparities within the African American
population, the statistics paint a painful picture of a population that leads
the charts in incidence and mortality rates.
While many Bay Area nonprofits,
government agencies and private health corporations are waging a war against
obstacles to a healthy community and are providing helpful ways for people
to transition to healthier lifestyles, The Globe’s role is to help get
the word out.
This week, we renew our efforts by bringing you articles from
health experts and professionals who are helping to bring clarity to their
efforts and providing meaningful opportunities for all of us to get involved
in.
If you are involved in activities that contribute to the improvement of
health in the community and want people to know more about it, contact Porsha
