The 100 Black
Men of the Bay Area will host a dinner, fashion
show and dance at the Double Tree Hotel, Berkeley
Marina, 200 Marina Blvd, Berkeley, at 6 p.m. in
honor of Mothers Day and to raise funds for college
scholarships and mentoring programs.
The annual
California Wildflower Show takes place May 12 and
May 13 at the Oakland Museum of California the
weekend of May 12-13. The show is included with
museum admission.
The YMCA at 3265 Market St. in
San Francisco will host a program for a Saturday
cleanup as part of Operation Safe and Clean Streets.
The event at the YMCA features speakers, entertainment
and refreshments. The Saturday cleanup will be
preceded by a city effort May 11 to paint curbs,
trim trees, contact owners of blighted property
and tag abandoned autos. The event is co-sponsored
by City Council District 3, the office of the city
administrator, service delivery systems – area
1 (SDS-1), Beat 6 Neighborhood Crime Prevention
Council, Public Works Agency, Community and Economic
Development Agency, the Oakland Police Department
and the West Oakland Commerce Association. For

The annual California Wildflower Show continues
May 13 at the Oakland Museum of California. The
Wildflower Show is a great place for moms on Sunday,
May 13, when the museum celebrates Mother’s Day with family activities (1–4
p.m.) and a concert (2–3 p.m.) with African
drumming and mariachi musicians. Admission is free
on May 13, one of the museum’s free Second
Sundays.
