Infineon Raceway announces
‘Infineon Raceway Idol’ contest

From the Globe Sports Desk
Infineon Raceway and 98 Rock FM in Sacramento are giving race fans the chance of a lifetime with the first “Infineon Raceway Idol” competition.
Aspiring singers now have a chance to sing the national anthem at pre-event ceremonies during eight different events featured in the Big O Tires Racing Season at Infineon Raceway. To enter the contest for the Infineon Raceway Idol, contestants must submit an MP3 recording of their best version of the national anthem to jnelson@entercom. com no later than April 14.
The list will be narrowed down to 20 singers, who will audition live at Infineon Raceway on Saturday, April 29 before a panel of judges. In addition to singing, winners will receive full-weekend event credentials and VIP suite passes.

Spring cycling series at Infineon begins April 6
For the third consecutive year, Northern California cyclists will have a place to call home at Infineon Raceway. The Infineon Raceway Cycling Series returns in 2006, featuring racing in both the spring and summer on a variety of motor sports-themed circuits. More than $5,000 in cash and prizes will be on the line.
The spring series kicks off on Thursday, April 6, and will run each Thursday night through April 27.
Cost is $15 per week and a 2006 United States Cycling Federation (USCF) license is required.
Free one-day licenses are available. Juniors (under 18) and children are free, but must have a parent or guardian signature. Events will take place rain or shine.
