New candelabra lights to improve
Havenscourt/Bancroft Commercial district

From the Globe Business Desk

Since taking office, Councilwoman Desley Brooks has made it a priority to improve District 6’s commercial corridors.
She recently initiated a project to upgrade lights in the Havenscourt/Bancroft commercial district. This area will receive nine new ornamental broadway dual candelabra lights funded by Brooks and the Central City East Redevelopment Agency. The lights are on order and will be installed by late summer.
Brooks hopes the upgraded lighting will enhance improvements that have already been made in the area. The opening of Heavenly Grounds, a business that benefited from a District 6 façade improvement program, marked the start of a number of beautification projects in the Havenscourt/Bancroft area. Along with plans for new lighting, Brooks has also overseen the planting of new trees, the repair of sidewalks, and the removal of asphalt and installation of flower in medians.
Havenscourt/Bancroft is the second commercial corridor in District 6 to have dual candelabra lights installed.
The first area to receive them was Millsmont.
