Peralta Colleges’TV programming enters cyberspace

By Globe Staff

For years, a cable TVchannel run by the Peralta Community College District has helped keep students and residents up-to-date.
Trustees meetings are aired, as well as documentaries.
Now, programming is available to anyone with an Internet connection through peralta.TV, available at www.peralta.tv.
“Talk Back,” the award winning program that discusses issues affecting the lives of young adults in the Bay Area, is gearing up for the premiere of its third season on
April 7.
“Windows to the World,” Peralta.TV’s own music video program featuring music from around the world is in pre-production for its first full season which begins in April, and “Rites of Passage” and “Sierra at Large” both recently wrapped up their inaugural season.
Several national and international programs, including the acclaimed “Democracy Now!” news show, are available 24 hours a day on peralta.TV.
Additionally, Peralta.TV will be launching a new show, “PSpan,” in April focused on capturing key events at each of the four Peralta Colleges – College of Alameda, Laney and Merritt colleges in Oakland and Berkeley’s Vista Community College.
Peralta.TV can be seen on Comcast cable on Channel 27 in Alameda and Berkeley, and on Channel 28 in Oakland, Emeryville and Piedmont.
Soon, visitors to the Peralta.TV Web site will also be able to tune into a live-stream that is currently in development with peralta.TV’s media-hosting partner, MonkeyBrains.
The Board of Trustees’meetings will be streamed live, and also be available on-demand.
Telecourses are also planned as on-demand media.
