Contra Costa County students recognized
as California Arts Scholars

Sixteen students from throughout Contra Costa County will be honored on July 8 as gifted and talented artists who have been recognized as California Arts Scholars by the state’s Innerspark program.
   Many of the students will participate in an intensive preprofessional training program at the California State Summer School for the Arts, which will be held at the campus of the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia.
    The Arts and Culture Commission of Contra Costa County will host a public recognition ceremony for the students on July 8 at 9:30 a.m. during the meeting of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors. The board chambers are located at 651 Pine St. in Martinez.

• Devin Abbott, Lafayette, Acalanes High
• Marissa Bertucci, Concord, Northgate High
• Sage Donpineo, El Sobrante, East Bay Waldorf School
• Annelyse Gelman, Orinda, Miramonte High
• Brie Hiramine, Danville, Monte Vista High
• Matthew Loudon, Orinda, Orinda Academy
• Andrea Nguyen, Antioch, Deer Valley High
• Tomy Wilkerson, El Sobrante, Middle College High Film/Video
• Stephen Erdmann, Kensington, St. Mary’s College High
• Alexander Franco, El Cerrito, St. Mary’s College High
• Will Provost, Richmond, Albany High Music Instrument
• Aaron Long, Danville, Monte Vista High Theatre

    Each year approximately 500 students are selected for the California Summer School for the Arts. Participants receive rigorous training to enhance their skills in performing and visual arts, creative writing and animation.
