On Thursday the Richmond Chamber of Commerce hosted the Green is Gold Expo at the Ford Point Building Craneway.

The event showcased local businesses whose products and services are part of a growing green industry. The expo’s theme emphasized that going green can reduce the cost of doing business.

Throughout the event, a steady stream of guests viewed display booths, sampled food from local caterers and networked.

Event Chair Nancy Cuneo and her committee organized presentations for participating businesses and expo guests about renewable energy, water conservation, green careers, solar panels, alternative transportation, carbon footprinting, green business certification and more. Lecturers included conservation consultants and representatives from SunPower, East Bay MUD, Smart Lights, Contra Costa County and Recyclemore.
Major sponsors of the event included the Chevron Richmond Refinery, SunPower Corporation and www.511ContraCosta.org.
